Black Reel Awards winner Derek Luke has been cast in lead for the upcoming CBS’ drama pilot, Second Sight. The shows follows a department of detectives who work together to solve crimes, and Luke will join the team as a new detective named Paul Giroux who happens to be the newbie on the team.
Luke’s character will be a co-star in the pilot, opposite Jason Lee, which at first glance sounds like a basic procedural, but should run a little deeper. Second Sight will actually star Lee as the lead detective in the unit who has an unusual problem. An ocular difficulty has caused Lee’s character, Tanner, to start having hallucinations which, in fact, may help Tanner and his team to crack cases.
Since appearing in HawthoRNe, Luke has kind of bounced around in the acting world. He most recently had a really great guest stint on The Americans as a passionate and street smart agent for the Russians. Luke won two Black Reel Awards in 2004 for his debut film, Antwone Fisher.
