The poster for the upcoming detective film, Alex Cross has been released and immediately something peculiar about the artwork jumped out at us regarding this reboot.
The film starring Tyler Perry as the title character and Matthew Fox as the character he is hunting is very strange in that Perry is positioned as a smaller image in the center, while his co-star looms large in the poster. Not sure if this is an attempt by the studio’s marketing arm to downplay Perry to audiences going in or does it insinuate that Fox’s character is really more interesting than the star himself?
What we do know is that the story will focus on DC detective Alex Cross who has been informed that a family member has been murdered. Cross vows to track down the killer but soon discovers that she was not his first victim and that things are not what they seem.
Directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious and xXx), he will be responsible for updating this story for a new generation with a younger leading character than the previous versions. One thing is for sure, the trailer is intense, can the film match it?
Alex Cross opens in theaters on October 19.
