Nine-time Grammy award winner, Mary J. Blige has performed in front of sold-out crowds for over two decades but in her latest film, Rock of Ages she flexs her acting chops alongside some of Tinseltown’s biggest stars.
In the film, Blige stars as club owner Justice Charlier. While not her first acting role (She starred in the 2009 Tyler Perry box-office hit I Can Do Bad All By Myself), Blige is definitely beginning to flex her acting muscles. A recipient of two Golden Globe Awards nominations for her musical contributions to the films Bobby and The Help (as well as being overlooked for her fantastic song, Black Reel Award winner The Living Proof). Blige has also been cast to play music icon Nina Simone in the upcoming biopic Nina.
The 41-year old, What’s the 4-1-1 singer sat down for an interview with CNN to discuss working with Tom Cruise, the prospects of recording a rock album and how she learned from watching her co-stars.
