Reel Fashion | Image Awards

2 03 2010

Our own Blog Fashionista “Sexy Sabrina” sent us this red carpet recap from this past Friday night’s 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards. While there were some stumbles, for the most part we thought all of the ladies looked FABULOUS!!!!!!

Best dressed honors, in a tight contest, went to Anika Noni Rose who had the benefit of several changes throughout the evening with nearly every one more flawless than the last. Rose started the evening on the red carpet wearing a cream colored sweetheart-beaded mermaid Ysa Makino gown (fit for a . . . Disney Princess!).

She then changed into a canary yellow BCBG Max Azria gown with gold trim accents perfectly displaying her . . . wholesomeness! Next up, Rose wore an elegant black asymmetrical gown wrapped around her body creating a stunning silhouette effect followed by blue gown that appeared to be too matronly (her only miss of the night).

Perhaps saving the best for last, the recent Black Reel Award winner gave liquid kisses in a scintillating Naeem Khan strapless ruby satin trumpet gown with pear-shaped crystal beaded bodice. Outside of one gown that didn’t work, Anika Noni consistently not only hit the mark, but set the bar for her peers. Great job!

Gabrielle Union looked radiant in a Pamella Roland silver modern beaded cocktail dress with ling sleeves. Union completed the look with a couple of Jimmy Choo accessories including a his sexy silver shoes and clutch. In a word – WOW!!!!!!

Sporting a Tadashi Shoji Spring 2010 gown with intricate basket-weave detail, Mo’Nique looked elegant and confident as she continues her complete award-season domination. Not only was her hair and makeup were flawless, but this Golden Globe, Black Reel, Image and . . . perhaps Oscar Award winning actress continues to to make all of the fashion right moves.

Honorable mentions

Keri Hilson and her black flamenco style dress with a huge rosette detail on the hip and ruffles cascading down the skirt. Sporting all black, Hilson got mixed reviews for her conservative shoe selection.

Jill Scott also sported a Tadashi Shoji dress that had the voluptous singer/actress looking very chic. Not wearing a gown but a classy navy-sequined 3/4 sleeve dress from Shoji’s 2010 Spring line and some wonderful silver accessories that perfectly complemented Scott fabulous look.

Garcelle Beauvais, who took a hit for her casual approach in a Pamella Roland Spring 2009 cobalt blue one shoulder dress with sash tied to the waist. Everyone else brought their A-game to the event; Beauvais looked comfortable but not event sexy!

Taraji P. Henson, who looked fit and tight in a Herve L. Leroux bandage dress which did look amazing on her toned body. While the peacock colour was gorgeous, apparently she went with a less is more philosophy which did nothing to bring out the WOW factor.
