Based on Alexander McCall Smith’s passionate book series, “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” chronicles the adventures of Precious Ramotswe (Jill Scott), the proprietor of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Aided by her highly-efficient secretary Mma Makutsi (Anika Noni Rose), Mma Ramotswe investigates cases and helps people solve problems in their lives.

Grammy® Award-winning singer Scott stars as series heroine Precious Ramotswe, who has become one of the most beloved characters in international contemporary fiction. Rose (“Dreamgirls”) stars as Mma Makutsi and Lucian Msamati stars as Mma Ramotswe’s devoted suitor JLB Matekoni.

Thanks for posting.

I couldn’t stop myself… I watch ALL 15 clips – the WHOLE show.

I can’t wait for the series. It should be a BIG hit on HBO – if WE support it.

Now you’ll have to find a place for Jill in Eye Candy!

The images and themes are positive and reaffirming for all–especially black females. I particularly like the way Precious is allowed complete range–it’s not often that a woman is allowed to be sexy, vunerable, strong and complex in the same vehicle…especially a woman of color who is of “traditional build.” I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series…watch it on HBO on demand and you’ll fall in love, too!
