Trailer Park | The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

29 05 2008

Here is a film that at first glance brings up lots of unanswered questions. Is there any other Asian martial arts leading men other Jet Li? Is it possible that Brendan Fraser could be even more stiff and wooden as actor more than Keanu Reeves and goodness damn gracious, do we really need another “Mummy” film?

This August, Fraser returns as explorer Rick O’Connell, along with his son Alex (Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello, taking over the character from Rachel Weisz; she even knew to get far away from this story) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). They must stop the resurrected Qin Emperor (Li), a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service. Of course he will, that’s just what all pissed off mummies do!

While many in the critic community would love nothing more than the prospect of no more future “Mummy” sequels at least you’ll have other viewing options if this movie is really bad. Poor Michelle Yeoh (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”) and Li – they (and us) surely deserve better.
