Trailer #2

Trailer #3

There have been stories ad nauseum about the one of the summer’s most anticipated films, “The Dark Knight.” In an unprecedented move, we decided to give you not one but the latest two trailers available as we count down to the titanic battle between the Joker and Batman.

After watching three trailers, it appears that what separates the late Heath Ledger’s performance of the Joker from Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson is that where his predecessors tried to capture the Joker’s twisted sense of humor while barely injecting his seriousness, Ledger flip the script and gave his performance in reverse. By playing him that way, it gives his performance more of a sinister flair and makes him a more than worthy adversary for the equally tortured soul known as the Caped Crusader.

While Warner Bros. will surely tap dance around being respectful to Ledger’s memory as they market the film, his untimely death has elevated a film from just another big summer movie to the season’s must-see film. No wonder the word on the street is that the studio may push Ledger for a posthumous Academy Award for his absolutely riveting performance.

Trailer grade: A+
