First Look | The Boondocks Banned Episode

19 03 2008

Earlier this year, word circulated around the web that an episode of “The Boondocks” that was super-critical of BET was banned. We have two clips of the entire show that you need to watch quick before they’re “suddenly unavailable.”

The episode titled “The Hunger Strike” never aired and Cartoon Network has announced it has no plans to air them here in America. They aired on The Detour programming block of Canada’s Teletoon network this past Monday night.

In the episode, Huey goes on a hunger strike in a boycott of BET, and receives some high-profile support from Reverend Rollo Goodlove, who may be more interested in his own self-promotion than any good intentions.

Though there were rumors that BET executives were threatening to sue if the episode was shown, a Cartoon Network representative denied this.

Creator Aaron McGruder places a mirror in the face of BET for their questionable programming tactics in one of the most honest and scathing examples of “reality television.”

As we stated earlier, watch it quick before it goes away.
