For the first time in film history, two of the biggest martial artists of all-time will finally appear together in the same movie. In “The Forbidden Kingdom,” superstars Jet Li and Jackie Chan will share their artistry on the big screen.
An American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and Kung-Fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.
In addition to both Li and Chan, the film will also feature action- choreography from the legendary Wo Ping (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “The Matrix”). Chan will play wise Kung-Fu master, Lu Yan while Li will lead a band of misfit warriors as Silent Monk.
As much as we have enjoyed both of these legendary performers in separate films, the combination of their martial arts talent and the daring choreography of Ping, this movie has SERIOUS “sleeper” potential.
“The Forbidden Kingdom” hits area theaters on April 18th.
