Wright’s “Cadillac’s” Filled!

Jeffrey Wright will play bluesman Muddy Waters in the upcoming film, “Cadillac Records.” Actors Columbus Short and Cedric the Entertainer have been added to the cast of the musical biopic that will tell the story of lives of such bluesmen as Waters, Little Walter, and Howlin’ Wolf.

Set in 1950s Chicago, the film will also feature Oscar winner Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess, the founder of Chess Records. Also joining the cast will be Emmanuelle Chriqui and Tammy Blanchard.

Later this year, Wright will star in the new James Bond movie; Cedric the Entertainment co-stars in the upcoming comedy “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins,” while Short will star in the thriller “Armored” with Matt Dillon. He recently wrapped the horror film “Quarantined.”


Jaden Smith Cast in Sci-Fi Classic

Young Jaden Smith will co-star in a remake of the sci-fi classic, “The Day The Earth Stood Still.”

Based on the 1951 classic, Smith will play the role of the rebellious young boy who first makes contact with the humanoid alien Klaatu. Also, Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates and “Mad Men’s” John Hamm will co-star.


“Misconceptions” About Orlando Jones

Former Mad TV castmember, Orlando Jones is set to star in the indie dramedy “Misconceptions.”

Co-written by Jones, the story centers on a religiously conservative married woman from the South who receives a message from God telling her to act as a surrogate mother for two gay men.

Jones will play Terry, the hopeful parent who comes to the woman’s home to micromanage her pregnancy and in the process causes havoc.

The film also stars A.J. Cook, Sarah Carter, Sam Ball, David Sutcliffe and David Moscow, who will play Jones’ life partner.


Michael Clarke Duncan Likes “Salmon”

Oscar-nominated actor Michael Clarke Duncan will star in troupe Broken Lizard’s fifth film, “The Slammin’ Salmon.”

Duncan will play the title role of Cleon “Slammin'” Salmon, a Miami restaurant owner who was once a brutal former heavyweight boxing champion.

In attempt to motivate his staff, Salmon creates a competition to see which waiter can earn the most money in one night. The winner will pocket $10,000, while the loser will receive a vicious beatdown at the hands of the champ.
