From the filmmakers that gave you “A Brother From Another Planet,” director John Sayles is back with a provocative period film, “Honeydripper.” Danny Glover stars as the proprietor of a struggling club called The Honeydripper and with his spot about to be closed he stumbles on a hot guitarist who may be the answer to his dreams. The film also stars Charles S. Dutton and muscian Keb Mo.
The film is a a period piece and probably won’t get wide distribution but it’s got that quirky “Brother Where Art Thou”-type vibe and I have feeling that this film may be worth the price of admission. Plus any time I can see both Glover and Dutton in a film, I’m there.
“Honeydripper” opens January 18.
