Many child actors enjoy a few years of fame, but have trouble making the transition from child star to adult. For the former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co star Tatyana Ali, she has put Hollywood in her rear view and has blossomed into a fine young lady.
The former actress and Harvard University graduate is profiled in the current issue of King Magazine. Now 29, Ali currently is traveling the United States as a spokesperson for Barack Obama’s 2008 Presidential Campaign. She is heading voter registration drives at college campuses including many historically black colleges and universities.
In the latest issue of King Magazine, Ali proves that she’s WAY more than just a pretty face. She took some time away from the business to pursue her college degree. “College was my opportunity to be around my peers, which you don’t get to do when you’re a child actor,” says Ali. “I wanted to be normal and see what else was out there, see what else I was good at.”
The young student explains, “I’m good at the sciences, I love learning about plants. You know, I’m a dork…it’s cool,” says Ali. I’ve come to terms with that and I dig it a little.”
Sounds just like something that Ashley Banks would say!
