According to the Hollywood Reporter, director Tyler Perry will adapt his Madea character into an animated series.
Perry has agreed to produce 22 episodes in conjunction with animation company Exodus Film Group, for distribution on television, DVD or both. The character of Mabel “Madea” Simmons has made appearance in several of Perry’s films including “Madea’s Family Reunion,” “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” and the soon to be released “Meet the Browns.”
The animated series is just another feather in Perry’s cap building on his burgeoning film empire and television production. The series will be the first foray into animation for Perry, who says his plan is to adapt the more adult-oriented Madea into something more suitable for a younger audience.
