Trailer Park - The Day The Earth Stood Still

Posted by filmgordon on July 7, 2008

The actor we love to hate, Keanu Reeves has found yet another role tailor made for his expressive-less style of acting in a remake of the sci-fi classic, “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

This remake of the 1951 classic finds Reeves in the lead role of Klaatu, the humanoid alien who brings a message to the citizens of Earth. Updating the Cold War theme of man against man, the latest version will have man going up against nature.

This latest version star Jennifer Connolly, Jaden Smith and Neo Reeves, who generally excels in roles that don’t require that he do much more than maintain his traditional one-note expression. Worked well in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and made him an A-list star in “The Matrix” franchise. Judging from the trailer, Reeves’ wooden-ness will be in full effect in the classic sci-fi film.

December 12 will be “The Day the Earth Stood Still;” sorry, we couldn’t resist

“The Day the Earth Stood Still” opens in theaters on December 12.

Here is the trailer for the original film
